The PA-A1 ATM port adapter is supported on any of the Cisco 7200 or VIP2-based 7500 series routers, and interoperates with any UNI-compliant ATM device. The PA-A1 ATM port adapter converts non-ATM LAN traffic into ATM cells and transmits to an ATM switch at rates up to 155 Mbps.
The PA-A1 ATM port adapter supports large enterprise and private ATM network configurations for data/bandwidth-intensive applications where traffic shaping is not required. Combined with both Cisco Internetwork Operating System (Cisco IOS™) software services and the robust suite of legacy-protocols supported on Cisco 7200 and 7500 series routers, the PA-A1 ATM port adapter can support large virtual private networks (VPNs).
