The Cisco AS5200 will not be orderable after December 18, 1999. It is being replaced by the Cisco AS5300 and AS3640, which have the ability to meet the growing demands of multiservice applications. To ease this product transition, a trade-in/trade-up program is being offered to encourage customers to upgrade now.

Two options are available as alternatives for the Cisco AS5200: Cisco AS3640 and AS5300. Both support the same MICA® based modems that ship with the Cisco AS5200.
The Cisco AS3640 is a modular, multifunction access router for enterprises and small to medium-sized service providers. When configured with digital modem network modules, the Cisco 3640 supports dial access, voice over data, and routing in one modular platform, and like the Cisco AS5200, it handles up to 48/60 modems.
The Cisco AS5300 is a high-performance access server that is intended for medium-sized to large enterprises and service providers that require high-density connectivity and configures from 48 up to 240 modems. The Cisco AS5300 can also function as a voice gateway.
