Ultravailable Managed OptEring
Overview
AT&T UltravailableŽ Managed OptEring Service offers ways to simplify IT infrastructure, reduce network complexity and associated operations costs, and improve overall network performance. It provides a common infrastructure that provides the foundation for next generation services and applications.
This service enables a business with multiple locations in a metropolitan area or campus environment to interconnect these sites as a private or virtual LAN. This optical Ethernet service supports any-to-any LAN/MAN interconnections. AT&T offers this service as a fully managed solution, using its unique Integrated Global Enterprise Management System (iGEMS) to provide end-to-end monitoring and cohesive management across networks, servers and applications.
By establishing any-to-any LAN/MAN interconnections, AT&T provides access to critical applications such as servers, storage, data mirroring, and hosting in a virtual network environment to support the continuity of a customer's business. Also, businesses can use the optical Ethernet capability for Internet access by connecting a business location to the nearest AT&T Internet Point of Presence (POP).
AT&T Ultravailable OptEring leverages Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) technology, which provides a business highly available transport of data, packet video and voice-over-ring topologies, which uses sub-50 millisecond protection switching in case of a catastrophic event such as a fiber cut or link failure.
