AT&T ATM SERVICE
Reliability Features
- Coast-to-coast AT&T SONET network, capable of restoring fiber route cuts in milliseconds. Even for areas not located directly on a SONET ring, AT&T digital service restoration capability will restore more than 90% of affected DS3s in less than 5 minutes.
- Dual ATM switches at each ATM POP and Switched Virtual Circuits (SVCs) on our Domestic ATM service, providing another level of protection.
- Traffic management features - ReliaBURST? and Foresight - for both AT&T ATM and Frame Relay services. Within the ATM network, AT&T uses a unique "closed loop" congestion management algorithm, which ensures that you receive your Committed Information Rate (CIR) whenever data is presented, not just over some average time period. ReliaBURST? provides fair allocation of spare bandwidth, based on your CIR, and sustained bursting to port speed. By avoiding network congestion, cell discards and application re-transmissions are minimized, ensuring optimal network performance.
