The Cisco 1548 series Micro Switch 10/100 offers affordable autosensing 10/100 Fast Ethernet switches for creating high-performance LANs in enterprise remote offices or small and growing businesses. For customers whose bandwidth requirements have outgrown their legacy 10BaseT networks, these switches offer dedicated Fast Ethernet connections on all eight ports.
The Cisco 1548 series Micro Switch 10/100 product line includes two models, the unmanaged Cisco 1548U and the managed Cisco 1548M. Both models deliver low-cost, high-performance, dedicated 10- or 100-Mbps bandwidth to individual users or workgroup segments.
Where management is a requirement, the Cisco 1548M 10/100 delivers the most powerful and cost-effective managed 10/100 Fast Ethernet connectivity in its class. The Web-based management interface, now common to most Cisco stackable LAN products, offers a consistent and integrated management interface across an entire family of LAN products. This managed switch supports a wide range of management protocols and Cisco IOS® technologies, including Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), four groups of Remote Monitoring (RMON), Switched Port Analyzer (SPAN), Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP), port-based virtual LANs (VLANs), and the traditional Cisco command-line interface (CLI).
Both products in the Cisco 1548 series Micro Switch product line can be deployed as high-performance 10/100 Fast Ethernet desktop solutions. Each port delivers up to 200-Mbps throughput when operating in full duplex. Autosensing and autonegotiation features correctly set the communications speed and duplex mode between connected devices. Users can deploy the Cisco 1548 Micro Switch 10/100 as either an extremely low-cost Fast Ethernet LAN solution or as an affordably priced, managed solution.
Figure 1: The Cisco 1548 Series Micro Switch 10/100 for High-Performance Desktop Connectivity

The Cisco 1548 series Micro Switch 10/100 also can be used to aggregate other networking devices in the workgroup, including Cisco 1538 series Micro Hub 10/100. As an aggregator, each switch port segments the LAN, reducing collisions between workgroups. VLAN functionality on the Cisco 1548M model creates additional security, broadcast control, and increased network performance.
Figure 2: The Cisco 1548 Series Micro Switch 10/100 as a Workgroup Aggregator

| Outstanding Performance
| Eight 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports
| Delivers performance where required, such as server farms, power workgroups, and individual users
|
