Frame Relay
An extremely efficient data transmission technique used to send digital information such as voice, data, local area network (LAN), and wide area network (WAN) traffic quickly and cost-efficiently to many destinations from one port.
Frame Relay Explained
A frame-based technology suite optimized for the transfer of protocol-oriented data. Characterized by connection-oriented services (PVC and SVC) at speeds up to 50 Mbps.
Permanent Virtual Circuit
A virtual path through a network characterized by fixed endpoints defined by the network operator at service subscription. A single physical path may support multiple PVCs and SVCs.
Switched Virtual Circuit
A virtual path through a network characterized by variable endpoints defined by the user at time of call initiation. A single physical path may support multiple PVCs and SVCs.
