F.R. is a high-speed, packet-switching protocol that moves packets over virtual circuits to connected network devices. A Frame Relay connection lets you establish a cost-effective Virtual Private Network (VPN) between 2 WANs, such as an Internet Service Provider (ISP*) and a corporate network.

Typically, a VPN is created between dial-in users and corporate networks. ISPs use a Frame Relay network to achieve speedy LAN-to-LAN or WAN-to-LAN internetworking data transfer, and to connect multiple Points of Presence (POPs) in a geographic area. Frame Relay allows a LanRover(tm) Access Switch to connect to multiple sites using a single physical connection.
