Adtran HDSLx/T1
ADTRAN is the market share leader in HDSLx technology and has long been a provider of basic T1 components.
HDSLx technology includes HDSL, HDSL2, and HDSL4 with each technology developed to meet specific, carrier needs. ADTRAN has been a leader in standards development for HDSL2 and HDSL4 technologies by closely working with standards committees.
HDSL (2B1Q modulation technology) has largely replaced early T1 technologies that had limited distance and were difficult to provision. Today, HDSL is the second most widely deployed xDSL technology following #1, BRI ISDN. HDSL2 uses a better modulation technique (TCPAM) that requires only two wires (one pair) and allows repeaters. HDSL2 can handle long copper loops afflicted with bridge taps, other DSL services, and possible crosstalk conditions. HDSL4 (TCPAM) using four wires (two pairs), was needed to extend carrier reach beyond the Carrier Serving Area (CSA) and have spectral compatibility with ADSL.
