Adtran DDS Frame Relay Access Devices (FRADs)
- Express 5000 Series
The Express 5000 Series of remote access devices supports Frame Relay connectivity for employees working from branch locations, home offices, and other remote site locations. The Express 5110 is a Frame Relay Access Device supporting legacy protocols and LANs with a built-in 56/64K DSU/CSU and two data ports. The Express 5200 Series adds support for voice and dial backup. The Express 5210 has a single data port and a 10BaseT Ethernet port for built-in IP routing.
As Frame Relay continues to experience growth, it is becoming necessary to enhance network reliability for critical sites. Safe-T-Net is ADTRAN's technology that provides dial backup for network recovery of Frame Relay traffic. Safe-T-Net is supported in ATLAS, IQ, NetVanta 3000 series, and Express 5200 Series products.
- IQ Series
The IQ Series from ADTRAN provides intelligent Frame Relay traffic management so users can make the most of existing bandwidth. This series includes features ranging from performance monitoring and traffic shaping to standard Frame Relay circuit management and troubleshooting. The IQ 710 is a modular device with interface options for 56/64K, T1/FT1, and T1/FT1 with DSX-1 voice capability. It combines all of the functionality of the previous DSU IQ, TSU IQ, and the TSU IQ+ into a single scalable platform, with added flexibility and features. It provides complete visibility from the Physical to the Application Layer, maintaining an extensive list of network statistics that aid in planning and troubleshooting. The IQ 710 automatically identifies over 300 applications such as Citrix, HTTP, Napster, and AOL Instant Messenger. Once network issues have been pinpointed, the IQ 710 traffic shaping feature can be used to limit bandwidth abusers and guarantee bandwidth for mission-critical applications.
N-Formant, an embedded web-based Java applet, provides a graphical configuration interface and real time statistics ranging from network and PVC frame throughput to application response and utilization. Then with N-Form, ADTRAN?s comprehensive web-based network management system, SLA verification, historical data, and trend analysis are readily available.
For network access up to 2.048 Mbps and for networks with multi-national remote sites, the IQ Probe is available. This product has the ability to monitor the Frame Relay circuit, perform standard Service Level Agreement (SLA) verification, and identify key applications running on Layers 1 through 3 of the network. For rackmount applications, the TSU IQ RM is available for use in the ADTRAN Smart 16/16e rackmount shelves. All IQ products offer disaster recovery solutions with optional dial backup modules.
