Summit48si from Extreme Networks sets the standard for Layer 3 switching at the edge by maximizing 10/100 port density, providing high levels of reliability, and providing Layer 3 software features and performance. The robust software features, capacity and performance of the Summit48si enables customers to provide Layer 3 services to more users while using less space and helping reduce the total cost of ownership.
At one rack unit (1RU) in height, the Summit48si packs 48 10/100 Ethernet ports and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports with non-blocking capacity to support every port at full line rate. This compact yet powerful system is capable of supporting two hot swappable load sharing power supplies—a reliability first in a 1RU Layer 3 switch. Summit48si reliability is further enhanced with dual Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, both of which are active and can be aggregated for increased throughput and redundancy.
The advanced Layer 3 software feature set from Extreme Networks, combined with dual hot-swappable power supplies makes Summit48si an ideal solution at the edge of the network.

The Summit48si switch provides comprehensive edge security features such as MAC address security which allows identifying port abuse such as rogue wireless access points or hubs/switches on edge ports. It also provides Web- and MAC-based Network Login does not require any specific client software as well as IEEE 802.1x based authentication. Every user on every port can be authenticated so the network can be protected at the most sensitive point of attack—at the edge.
Multiple Supplicant (client) allows multiple clients to be individually authenticated on the same port. Summit48si series switches have wire-speed Layer 2-4 Access Control Lists (ACLs) on every port to maximize security while maintaining throughput.
