Summit 300 Series
Summit 300 series 10/100 Ethernet switches offer secure Unified Access for IP Telephony and wireless applications.
With its implementation of Extreme Networks Unified Access Architecture (UAA), Summit 300 series switches set a standard for edge connectivity in the demanding converged networks. In addition to offering a solid foundation of performance, security, availability, and management capabilities, Summit 300 series switches provide up to 48 "universal access ports", with every port enabling high-performance data to the desktop, PoE and wireless LAN. With its integrated PoE, Summit 300 series switches can power devices such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) phones, surveillance cameras, and badge readers. Because of Extreme Networks’ unique UAA, wireless APs can be seamlessly deployed with security, and located throughout a facility for any number of wireless data or voice applications.
Based on the award-winning ExtremeWare Layer 3 software, Summit 300 series switches provide 24 or 48 ports of 10/100 Ethernet with four physical Gigabit Ethernet uplinks. Every port delivers a vast array of ExtremeWare Layer 3 and Layer 2 features; ranging from OSPF routing and advanced QoS classification to advanced security. ExtremeWare offers the most comprehensive Layer 3 software solution set at the edge while allowing easy expansion and addition of services.
- Unified Access connectivity for integrated wired, wireless and IP Telephony deployments
- Edge security to protect networks where they are being attacked
- Network edge deployments with Layer 3 intelligence and routing to increase efficiency of sub-network edge traffic
- UniStack™ stacking for management simplicity
Non-blocking wire-speed architecture helps ensure performance for demanding wired and wireless applications along with IEEE 802.3af standard based Power over Ethernet. Extreme Networks Altitude APs support 802.11 a, b, and g, Wireless LAN (WLAN) standards.
Summit 300 switches provide comprehensive edge security features such as MAC address security which allows identifying port abuse such as rogue wireless access points or hubs/switches on edge ports. It also provides Web and MAC based Network Login does not require any specific client software as well as IEEE 802.1x based authentication. Every user on every port can be authenticated so the network can be protected at the most sensitive point of attack—at the edge.
Multiple Supplicant (client) allows multiple clients to be individually authenticated on the same port. Summit 300 series switches have wire-speed Layer 2-4 Access Control Lists (ACLs) on every port to maximize security while maintaining throughput.
- Quality of Service (QoS)
- Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS)resiliency protocol
- Minimized Latency
- Non-Blocking Forwarding
- IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) support on all ports
- Network Login (MAC, HTTP and 802.1x) with multiple supplicant
- Hardened network infrastructure
Summit 300 has 24-port or 48-port 10/100BASE-TX Power over Ethernet (PoE) and 2-port or 4-port 10/100/1000BASE-T/1000BASE-X SFP dual personality uplink ports.
Summit 300 has non-blocking switching fabric and offers wire-speed Layer 2/Layer 3 switching for all ports with Quality of Service and security features such as hardware based Access Control Lists (ACLs). With robust Layer 2-4 intelligence, Summit 300 meets variety of requirements at the edge of the converged enterprise network.
- Non-blocking wire-speed architecture
- 17.6 Gbps switch fabric (Summit 300-48), 8.8 Gbps switch fabric (Summit 200-24 and Summit 200-24fx) enabling all ports to operate at line-rate
- 255 port based and MAC based VLANs
- 16,384 MAC addresses (300-48) 8,191 MAC addresses (300-24)
- 4 hardware queues per port
- ACLs for optimal security and diverse traffic classification
Summit 300 can be deployed as Fast Ethernet edge switch with Power over Ethernet and provide consistent quality and performance throughout your converged network while reducing operational inefficiencies.
