Cisco IGX 8400 Series
The Cisco IGX 8400 product family now introduces the new Cisco URM ideal for worldwide Enterprise customers who have or plan to have an ATM WAN backbone to support voice and data integration from the Core/Edge to the branch office.
The IGX 8450/SES (Service Expansion Shelf) defines a new class of IP+ATM wide-area switch for the enterprise that combines the application richness of Cisco IOS software with switching performance ATM. In addition, the IGX 8450/SES supports all of the traditional WAN applications, enabling customers to benefit from data, voice, and video integration today while preparing for the next generation of IP-based applications.
Cisco now offers standards-based Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology on the Cisco IGX 8400 series multiservice switch platform. An entry point to MPLS on a carrier-class platform, the Cisco IGX 8400 expands the reach of the successful BPX 8600 MPLS technology, often used in conjunction with the IGX. Designed primarily for service providers outside of the U.S., the Cisco IGX 8400 is ideal for post, telephone, and telegraph (PTT) carriers and alternative providers that deliver Frame Relay and ATM services for mid-sized or distributed points of presence (POPs), as well as for deployments that require a robust, cost-effective, multiservice solution. The Cisco IGX 8400 also brings the scalability advantages of IP+ATM to large enterprises worldwide.
