for both desktop and notebook users, choose the 3Com® OfficeConnect® Wireless
11g USB Adapter. Users can roam the office while accessing network resources,
the Internet, and e-mail at speeds up to 54 Mbps—ideal for multimedia or other
high-bandwidth applications—at distances up to 100 meters (328 feet). The USB
adapter works with the 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Access Point and
Cable/DSL Gateway to create a powerful, high-speed all-wireless network in
minutes for home and branch offices, remote sites, and classrooms. The 11g
products are backward-compatible with 11b products, so both 11b and 11g clients
can reside on the same network.
The adapter offers the flexibility and
convenience of USB connections without sacrificing performance. It's hinged
antenna works with a variety of desktop and notebook designs. To protect
wireless connections, the USB adapter supports WPA encryption and 40/64- and
128-bit WEP shared-key encryption. The Wireless Card Manager feature creates
profiles for mobile users that reflect specific wireless LAN settings for each
place they travel: users just select the proper profile and they are configured
for connection. Dynamic rate shifting automatically matches the best connection
speed in response to physical and traffic conditions so wireless connections
