The 3Com® IntelliJack™ Switch is available as a managed device adapted to UK and EU wall outlet standards. All versions of this "in the wall" solution mount in BSI- or DIN-standard wall cutouts for a fraction of what it costs to run Category 5 or 5e cabling.
The lead model is the 3Com IntelliJack Switch NJ225, designed for enterprise accounts looking for a managed solution to quadruple ports in an infrastructure with copper 10/100 connections. Available as a single pack in cream color, this "in the wall" managed switch comes bundled with software utilities that help streamline administration tasks and boost network security. Advanced switching and management features make it ideal for connecting networked telephony. Enterprise ready, these models can be discovered and controlled by most SNMP-compliant management platforms— including 3Com Network Supervisor and HP OpenView.
The IntelliJack Switch NJ225 FX model shares the management capabilities of the NJ225. It is designed for environments where the uplink connection will be 100BASE-FX fiber. Available as a single pack in cream, two connector types are offered: IntelliJack Switch NJ225 FX with SC fiber connection; and IntelliJack Switch NJ225 FX with ST fiber connection.
The IntelliJack Switch NJ205 is a previous-generation model, offered as as a multi-pack, in cream.
3Com IntelliJack switches are significantly less vulnerable to theft or damage than freestanding alternatives. They install without disturbing walls, ceilings, or day-to-day operations-making them ideal for hospitals, hotels, classrooms, historical buildings, conference rooms, and cubicles.
Multiple power options including standard Power over Ethernet endspan switches and midspan solutions for the NJ225 and NJ205, and a local AC adapter for all models, are sold separately.
- Supports QoS-on-Voice with IEEE 802.1p Packet Prioritization to give VoIP traffic and other mission-critical tagged packets priority over non-mission-critical transmissions
- Improves network performance with advanced switching technologies, including traffic prioritization, multicast rate control, and IEEE 802.1Q VLANs (port-based VLANs only for NJ205)
- NJ225 and NJ225 FX models support IEEE 802.1X network login for enhanced security
- NJ225 and NJ205 models support IEEE 802.af Power over Ethernet, some nonstandard inline power systems, and local power using an AC adapter; see Product Specifications for details
- NJ225 FX model can also be powered by a "phoenix-style" AC connection common in raceways found in Germany
- Power over Ethernet eliminates clutter of local power cables and hardware; reduces power or data disconnections; supports centralized power backup for critical systems such as phones. All IntelliJack switches can forward power to compatible devices
- Fits a variety of outlets— using optional mounting accessories— including floor mounts and UK double-gang boxes; see Product Options page for a complete listing
- Streamlines IT administration with central management that can fine-tune a single port or bulk administer a group of switches
- Facilitates security and manageability with Location Mapping software. Boosts security with features that include wall-mounted case, traffic monitoring, SNMP traps, and VLANs
