The 3COM Switch3200FamilyOverview you're interested in is a: Managed Layer 2/3 10/100 switching. Fixed configuration. Ideal for sites needing dynamic Layer 3 routing, security and performance optimized for workgroup / edge connections.
Affordable, Flexible Layer 3 10/100 Switching For
workgroup 10/100 deployments needing the added benefits of Layer 3 switching,
the SuperStackŪ 3 Switch 3200 family of switches is the right solution. These
wirespeed switches have either twenty-four or forty-eight 10/100 ports, and two
10/100/1000 or SFP-based fiber Gigabit dual-purpose ports.
The Switch
3200's Layer 3 capabilities improve workgroup performance by routing segmented
traffic locally at the wiring closet, without the need to send the traffic to
the network core for routing. Through its support of dynamic (RIP) routing,
deployment and management is greatly simplified over working with static routes,
with automatic reconfiguration when there are topology changes.
Enhanced
security features include IEEE 802.1X network log-in and Access Control Lists to
help insure only authorized users can access your network. Secure management of
the switch is facilitated through encrypted SSL (HTTPS) and SSH sessions, while
multiple devices can be managed through 3Com Network Supervisor.
This
switch is available in two different port counts:
SuperStack
3 Switch 3226, with twenty-four 10/100 ports, and two 10/100/1000 or
SFP-based fiber Gigabit dual-purpose ports
SuperStack
3 Switch 3250, with forty-eight 10/100 ports, and two 10/100/1000 or
SFP-based fiber Gigabit dual-purpose ports
Edge-optimized Layer 3 switching to speed performance for those environments
with network segmentation among its workgroups
Supports dynamic (RIP) routing, easing the setup and ongoing maintenance of
the network
Depending on model, 24 or 48 10/100 ports, each with two dual-purpose
Gigabit ports supporting 10/100/1000 or SFP fiber modules for maximum
flexibility
Wirespeed, non-blocking performance
Enhanced security includes IEEE 802.1X network log-in, Access Control Lists,
and encrypted SSL (HTTPS) and SSH management sessions
Redundant power is available using the 3Com
