The 3COM 3C17304-US you're interested in is a: Managed wirespeed 10/100 stackable flexible switch; Layer 2 functionality; includes two 10/100/1000 copper gigabit ports and two GBIC ports.
Affordable, Flexible 10/100 Switching For
copper-wired Ethernet networks that need premium switching performance and the
flexibility of Fiber or Copper Gigabit uplinks (via fixed 10/100/1000 or GBIC
ports) without the complexity and high price, the 3ComŪ SuperStackŪ 3 Switch
4228G is an innovative, yet very practical solution.
This 28-port
Ethernet switch combines wirespeed Layer 2 switching with easy installation and
exceptional reliability, backed by 3Com's limited lifetime warranty. Twenty-four
autosensing 10/100 copper ports provide flexible desktop and workgroup
attachments, while two autosensing 10/100/1000 copper uplink ports support
stacking or Gigabit connections, and two flexible GBIC expansion slots enable an
additional choice of fiber or copper Gigabit Ethernet backbone and server
connections.
Resiliency features such as Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol,
link aggregation (for the 10/100/1000 ports), and a redundant power option help
ensure uptime. Built-in Gigabit ports can be used as uplinks or for stacking
with a mix of other SuperStack 3 Switch 4228G, or with SuperStack 3 Switch 4250T
and Switch 4226T units. Up to four units can be stacked for maximum scalability.
