This sub-module is inserted within the switch fabric of
the 3Com
Switch 7700 4-Slot chassis and delivers four ports of high-performance
Gigabit Ethernet switching with optional Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC)
ports for both fiber and copper connections.
This is particularly helpful
when Gigabit Ethernet ports are required for an uplink when using Fast Ethernet
modules in the chassis payload slots. This sub-module is also an economical
choice for supporting a small quantity of fiber connections where all other
connections will be copper.
The 3Com Switch 7700 4-Port 1000BASE-X (GBIC)
Fabric Sub-Module operates only in the fabric of the Switch 7700 4-Slot chassis;
this sub-module is not supported on the Switch 7700R 8-Slot or Switch 7700
7-Slot chassis.
